Although I’m Canadian, I’ve always identified with Ralph Lauren’s American aesthetic, which the designer has said was heavily influenced by accidental style icon Katharine Hepburn. These sandals, made from tempered Italian leather and accented with brass grommets and buckles to achieve that Ralph Lauren “heritage” look, are the last word in tomboy chic. It’s as though the designer took a page right out of Hepburn’s summer style guide. That is, if she’d cared enough about fashion to write one.
