Signing a note with an "X" has become so commonplace I receive emails from people I have never even met in person with the affectionate symbol for a kiss. But I don’t know anyone that uses the "XO" besides my mother. Her hug with a kiss salutation feels personal and special like Jennifer Meyer's adorable necklaces that lights up the little letters with diamonds.
