At the opening reception for Cartier & Aldo Cipullo, New York City in the '70s, I had the privilege of talking to Alfred Durante, the Cartier designer who created Elizabeth Taylor's Peregrina Pearl necklace and Taylor-Burton Diamond necklace. He told me the gems for both jewels were designed to highlight the icon’s décolletage. When I saw this piece at Jennifer Fisher, I thought it would be a modern way to echo Taylor's sexy jewelry stylings.
