The last time I carried a knapsack it was a durable nylon number. That it had two straps and a spacious interior was about all it had in common with this sleek reptilian design. The Row's tote is a definite upgrade thanks to gold-tone hardware, a detachable top-handle and chic extras like a carrying case and mirror. With its hearty price tag and supple alligator skin, this backpack may not have the practicality of my nylon style, but it's definitely got the staying power.
